photo credit: IrisDragonThe most important thing that you can do for teething husky puppies is to make sure that they have something to chew on. Your puppy will be uncomfortable during the teething process and they will look for something to chew on. If you do not provide your puppy with something to chew on, they will find something on their own. Puppies can be destructive if they are not properly supervised and cared for during the teething process.
We found some great teething products for our husky puppies online. If you know anything about husky puppies then you know that they love to chew!! One of our puppy’s favorite things to chew on is the Complete Natural Nutrition Terrabone Chew Bone. I like these bones because they are edible and they’ll provide your puppy with more than just something to chew on.
Terrabones are one the safest and healthiest edible bones on the market. Complete Natural Nutrition Terrabone Chew Bones come in two sizes (small and large) and they are made in three different flavors. The first flavor, Terrabone Fresh Breath bones, are made with peppermint and parsley which helps to maintain your puppy’s fresh breath. The second flavor, Terrabone B-Calm, are made with chamomile and lavender which can help keep your puppy calm. These are a great snack to give your pup before a visit to the vet. The last flavor, Terrabone Jump’n Joints, are probably the most beneficial for puppies because they are made with glucosamine and Omega Fatty Acids which are essential for healthy growth and maintenance of muscle and joints.
If you stay on top of your puppy during the teething process it shouldn’t be too traumatic for anyone. Our husky puppies teething process lasted for about seven weeks from start to finish. As long as they had something to chew on they were fine.

Because there are so many dog treats on the market today, choosing the best treats for your husky puppies can be a difficult task if you are new to owning huskies. It’s important to realize that your puppy’s treats should only account for about 10% of their daily caloric intake. Your puppy’s food is really their sole source of nutrition so treats should only be given as a supplement to their food. Treats can be used during training and rewarding good behavior.
It is extremely important that you monitor your husky puppies treat intake to ensure that they do not become overweight. While a healthy puppy diet should be high in fat and protein, puppy treats can also be high in these areas as well and too much fat and protein can cause problems. You want to make sure that the puppy treats you are feeding your husky puppies will simply be an addition to a well balanced diet.

If you are thinking about getting a Siberian Husky puppy I urge you to check your local animal shelter first and consider adopting a husky. Not that getting husky puppies from a breeder is a bad thing, it’s just that there are so many husky puppies and adult huskies sitting in animal shelters across the country that could use a good home.
If you have a local animal shelter close by, then it might not hurt to just get in the car and take a ride to see they have any huskies available for adoption. If you do not live that close to an animal shelter you can Google animal shelters in your area and then just make phone calls and ask them if they have any Siberian Huskies or husky puppies available for adoption. A lot of shelters will take your information and give you a call if a husky shows up at the shelter. If they do not offer, you can always request that they notify you if you any huskies are brought into the shelter.
Many animal shelters work closely with rescue groups as well. Many times rescue leagues will request that they be contacted if any the breed that their rescue represents show up at the shelter. You can contact local Siberian Husky Rescue Groups and inquire about dogs in their care as well.
If you can’t locate a Siberian Husky in your area you can always try adoptapet.com. This is an excellent website and you can locate dogs a significant distance away from you. If you are truly set on adopting a Siberian Husky and distance is not an issue, then using this website is a great alternative to visiting a more local animal shelter. The website provides you with photos of all the available dogs and puppies and it also gives you a little background on each dog as well. It’s a great resource and I’m sure it has saved so many dogs lives!

The pet food industry is one of the largest and most competitive markets and new products are popping up all of the time. Deciding on the best brand of puppy food can be both overwhelming and quite expensive for a new puppy owner. An easy, cost effective and healthy alternative to purchasing your puppies food is preparing homemade puppy food right in your own kitchen.
Making homemade pet food is actually very easy. Both dogs and puppies can consume a raw diet, so if you’re not interested in cooking, there are many recipes available that won’t even require you to turn on the oven. Growing up we had two husky puppies that were raised on a raw diet and they both lived until they were 13 years old! Before you prepare any food for your new puppy, you’ll want to become familiar with the foods that are harmful to dogs. You do not want to feed your puppy anything that could potentially make them sick. You can find some easy to follow pet food recipes online or in pet cookbooks.
Making your own dog food has benefits that go beyond your pet’s health. Commercial pet foods can be very expensive. If you feed your puppy homemade food, you will definitely save a lot of money. It’s a good idea to feed your puppy foods that are high in protein, such as chicken and fish. You can buy both of these foods in bulk at very reasonable prices. Chicken and fish can also easily be frozen so you won’t have to worry about them spoiling if you do decide to buy in bulk.
Homemade pet food is also a healthy alternative to many of the mass produced pet foods. A lot of the commercially produced pet foods can contain harmful additives and preservatives that could affect your puppy’s health. Feeding your puppy homemade pet food can eliminate a lot of unnecessary trips to the vet.
